“Teresa's contribution to Castleblayney Cancer Society knows no measure. Teresa was a very active member of Castleblayney Cancer Society from the early nineties to very recent times. Her no nonsense attitude combined with her cheeky but kind sense of humour endeared her to both the committee members she worked with and the public alike. She was someone who could be relied on at all times to simply turn up and get the work done. Teresa epitomised the can-do attitude to everything she was involved in and the community of Castleblayney reaped the rewards of her positivity in immeasurable terms. She was a very practical person who could always be relied on to find an easy answer to a complex problem and she relished in finding solutions to life’s challenges. Teresa served as secretary to Castleblayney Cancer society for many years and was a trojan worker on the committee. Only up to very recently she collected the fundraising boxes from all the local businesses who knew her friendly face over the many years. There is no doubt that the day Teresa looked forward to most was the fundraising day for the Irish Cancer Society …Daffodil Day. She kept meticulous records of the amount raised every year since her involvement over 24 years ago. Every year’s total simply presented itself as the one to beat the next year. Her banking skills were invaluable as she enjoyed counting the notes and the coins as they came in during that day . We would receive hourly notifications and comparable statistics on how we were doing compared to previous years. She had us under pressure always to beat the previous year’s totals. Her warmth, dedication, and spirit touched everyone who knew her. She leaves behind not just memories, but a lasting impact on all of us. We are better for having known her, and her contribution to Castleblayney Cancer Society will not be forgotten. We will carry her memory with us always, honoring the love for community service she shared so freely."
